Since the inception of this game somewhat around 1823 when William Webb Ellis decided to pick up the football in hand and run till date “Rugby” as a game kept undergoing the metamorphosis of rules, forms and action. Rugby has fascinated the robust bodies the world over and Srinagar, Kashmir would not let this game evaporate with time. The proof is so recent that District Srinagar Rugby Association organized District Rugby Championship between 10th & 11th August at Pologround, Srinagar in collaboration with J&K Rugby association under the banner ship of J&K Sports Council. The weather was just perfect to enthuse surplus energy into the jostling, barging sweaty bodies of players, who put in all their effort for the trophy to be theirs. The efforts and luck both sided with the following winners. The girls of Doon School Srinagar stood at 2nd position, while the boys followed at 3rd position. The entire Doon School Srinagar community rejoices this achievement and victory. Humbly but effectively the Doon School Srinagar Sports Faculty member Mr. Umer Akbar cannot be thanked enough for his incessant interest, pains taking efforts to showcase the talents of his reams.
