Chase excellence and success will follow!
There is no joy greater than seeing our students accomplishing what they have been hoping for and working toward fulfilling their dreams. We are glad to announce that three of our students have bagged the INSPIRE award out of a total of 1125 INSPIRE awards given in 2021, at the national level. The Department of Science and Technology sponsors and manages the “Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research" (INSPIRE) programme, which aims to attract talented people to science. The main purpose of the scheme is to foster a culture of creativity and imaginative thinking among schoolchildren by generating one million original ideas/innovations based on science and societal implications.
For their incredible and innovative projects, Sidrat ul Muntaha (Class 7th), Shah Abdul Shafi (Class 6th), and Sheikh Kamil Ahmad (Class 8th) received the INSPIRE award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 10,000 to be used on the project.
The award was given to Sidrat ul Muntaha for a device that ensures the safety of somnambulists (sleep walking) which triggers alarm when somebody tries to walk in sleep. The project consists of a touch sensor which can be fitted in a strap and then can be tied to patients’ foot at night. This touch sensor will only work when patient steps on the ground. A micro-controller can receive the signal from the touch sensor and activate the alarm. This can save a lot of human lives.
Shah Abdul Shafi made a prototype of a device for deaf people. His idea is to make it easier and quicker to communicate with deaf people. The system contains a microphone, which will receive the sound signal and send it to a micro-controller which will convert that sound into text. The same text can be sent to a display fitted in a headband (or goggles) and it will be easier for a deaf person to understand things easily. It can also be used to teach deaf students.
Sheikh Kamil Ahmad Varshan’s projects aims at developing a packaging which will change its colour when the product expires. It will help in improving food safety, therefore, lowering the chances of diseases like food poisoning.
Sidrat ul Muntaha gave credit to her teachers who supported her throughout and more importantly gave her the boost of confidence and courage that was required. Shah Abdul Shafi recounts how his mother motivated him for the project. He thanks his parents, as well as his teachers for believing in him and for guiding him.
