“Turra” and “Bargola”, (Artificial sword and shield) moved swiftly but surely as nible footed players of SQAY CHAMPIONSHIP charged at each other on 2nd October in Indoor Stadium.
The blue and red bordered matt of stadium witnessed the acute spirit and culmination of practice of each competitor. The spectators cheered and referees judged.
Big contingent from all over the valley participated for the coveted championship. Doon International School Srinagar team marched out with the champion’s title from stadium. The overwhelming performance of each Doonian won the hearts of spectators. School’s coach Mr. Umer Akbar heaved the deep sigh of relief and satisfaction when he stood with his team for the group photograph. Principal, Mr. Mehfooz Aslam felt proud to be amongst the winners who brought glory to school by bringing so much Gold and Silver to alma mater.
The 22nd District Srinagar SQAY Martial Arts Championship, organized by District Srinagar SQAY Association under the aegis of J&K SQAY Association from 1st October to 2nd October, concluded at Indoor Sports Complex, Poloview. Where Doon International School, Srinagar emerged as winners and clinched the title by bagging 27 medals. Gold: 6 Silver: 11 Bronze: 10
