The Inter-School Zonal Level
Athletic Meet 2023, hosted by the District Youth Services & Sports
Department in Srinagar, commenced at S P College Srinagar on October 12, 2023 with
an impressive turnout of nearly 300 participants. Doon School Srinagar,
competing in various age categories including under-14, under-17, and under-19,
once again showcased its prowess in the world of sports. A total of fifty-five
boys and 40 girls from Doon School Srinagar displayed exceptional athletic
abilities in these competitions. Distinguished Chief Guests, including District
Officials of Srinagar and the Zonal Physical Education Officer for Srinagar,
added prestige to the event with their presence.
In the Boys Athletic Meet,
students from Doon School Srinagar achieved top positions in all events,
including the 100-meter race, 200-meter race, 400-meter race, and shot put.
Their stellar performance secured the first, second, and third positions in
these events, resulting in a remarkable haul of six Gold medals, eight Silver
medals and six Bronze medals. The Girls Athletic Meet, which took place on
October 12, saw Doon School Srinagar's girls' team emerge as frontrunners. They
accumulated a total of 14 medals, including 2 Gold medals, 7 Silver medals, and
5 Bronze medals. Total Medal Count: Their extraordinary accomplishments in both
meets not only earned admiration within the school but also garnered
recognition from the broader sports community. The students' exceptional
performance contributed to Doon School's total medal count of 34 (20 won by
boys and 14 by girls), further solidifying their reputation as a center of
sporting excellence.
