On 30th of September, 2023, Doon School Srinagar celebrated its Annual Sports Day. The event was presided over by the chief guest, Major General PBS Lamba, and the special guest of the day, Mr. Dave Whatmore. The other guests of honour for the day were Colonel Love, Mr. Imtiyaz Hussain Mir (SSP CID), Ms. Tabasum Nazir (Divisional Head J&K Bank), Mr. Shabir Ahmed (Zonal Head J&K Bank) and other dignitaries.
On this day, three important venues were inaugurated by the chief guests viz the waterpark, the musical park and the new basketball court. The school’s expansive playground served as the venue for the day’s events. The event was inaugurated with the releasing of balloons by the dignitaries and a speech by the chairperson of the school, Mr. Showkat Hussain Khan. The school ensured a mass participation of all the students from grade 3 to 12. The events of the day started and continued with presentations of various drills where students showcased amazing maneuvering of props, such as paper fans, placards, balls, dumbbells, laziums etc. A variety of sports competitions, including relay races, 100, 200, 400 and 800 meter races, sac races, three-legged races, shot put, high jump and long jump were held. Games such as basketball, badminton, rollball, roller skating competitions, etc were also played in the newly inaugurated courts. The dignitaries and the chairperson awarded medals to the winners. The day concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the anchors and a round of applause by the audience for all participants.
