Grand Parent's Day

Grand Parent's Day 22 October

Grand Parent's Day

Grandparents are a family's greatest asset since they established a loving heritage and are the best storytellers and tradition keepers. The solid base of the family is its grandparents. Grandparents hold families close to their hearts through their unique love and care. The necessities that grandparents generously supply are what kids need most. They offer unwavering affection, goodness, tolerance, humor, consolation, and life lessons.
Doon International School continues to impart such values because of its firm belief in the complete and comprehensive development of the child. The school observed Grandparents' Day on October 22, 2022, and the underlying theme was Kashmiriyat – Our culture. The adorable kindergarteners showed their love and affection for their grandparents, making the day full of blessings, smiling faces, excitement, and cheer. The event commenced at 11 a.m. and was held in the schoolyard.
The programme started with a warm welcome speech by Mr Mehfooz Aslam, Director, Wilmot Wing of Doon School, whose words were highly spellbinding. In the words of Vice Principal of the school, Ms Nowsheen Bashir, herself - ‘A house where elders are cherished and looked after well, lives God himself. . . enlightened the audience about the importance of grandparents .A prayer which is very dear to almost every Kashmiri – ‘Sahibo Sath Cham Mei Cheani’ was recited soon after. Kids dressed in beautiful traditional attires performed songs like jannat-e-kashmir, Ale haba laer haba and hukus bukus. These tiny tots looked lovely while dancing to these familiar tunes and even the grandparents could be seen enjoying the sight. A ladishah performance and Kashmiri rouf came next.
The grandparents were completely mesmerised by the children' captivating presentations. A bunch of activities were planned for the grandparents ranging from musical chair, lemon and spoon race, pass the ball and group dynamic games. It came to an end with a vote of thanks by Ms Shazia Khan, Coordinator, LPD.
Grandparents’ day was a memorable one for the grandparents, who left with pleasant memories, loads of appreciation and heaps of blessings to the school and its management and the event left a mark of undying love, honour and gratitude towards the elderly.
