Doon School, Srinagar is renowned
in the valley for its commitment to providing quality education, nurturing
young minds, and fostering innovation. The school actively engages its
facilitators in workshops within and outside India to stay updated and enhance
their knowledge and skills.
One such enriching workshop took
place on February 3, 2024, at India Habitat, Lodhi Road, Delhi. Ms. Achama
Mathew, the Chief Educational Officer for Bombay Cambridge Gurukul School and a
Cambridge-accredited trainer, conducted the workshop. She is also the author of
Cambridge Primary Global Perspective.
Ms. Saba Farooqi, the Assistant
Coordinator of the Wilmot Wing of Doon School Srinagar, was among the attendees
of the enriching workshop. She represented the school at the event gaining
useful insights into the aim and the working of Cambridge Primary learning
curriculum. It is noteworthy that Doon School Srinagar has been meticulously
following the Cambridge School Curriculum for providing a broader horizon and
better learning opportunities to its students.
This workshop, attended by
prominent schools of India that follow the Cambridge curriculum, focused on the
Global Perspective in the Cambridge curriculum. Ms. Achama Mathew emphasized
the importance of life skills in developing global citizens. She focused on the
six key skills within the Global Perspective in Primary and Lower Secondary
(PLS) with discussions on effective implementation and learning objectives.
During the workshop, Ms. Achama
Mathew highlighted the assessment guidelines for Global Perspective, provided
insights into the structure of Cambridge books, and discussed the challenges in
Cambridge Primary. Additionally, she covered the crucial aspects of teacher
observations, guiding facilitators in conducting Primary and Lower Secondary
Checkpoints.
The workshop was characterized by
collaborative interactive discussions, teamwork, and an online quiz, allowing
participants to assess their acquired knowledge. Overall, it proved to be a
truly enriching experience for all involved.
