Wilmot Wing of Doon School Srinagar joyously celebrated Grandparents' Day on November 11, 2023. Grades 1 and 2 students showcased vibrant programs dedicated to their beloved grandparents. Ms. Nowsheen Bashir, the Vice Principal, inaugurated the event with an inspiring speech.
The vice principal's heartfelt welcome speech on Grandparents Day celebrated the invaluable role that grandparents play in shaping our lives. With gratitude and admiration, she highlighted the wisdom and love passed down through generations, fostering a sense of family and continuity. The speech beautifully honored grandparents, acknowledging their unique contributions to the school community and reinforcing the importance of intergenerational connections.
The ceremony commenced with a heartfelt prayer presented by the students, setting a warm tone for the day. The young talents then delighted the audience with a diverse array of performances. This included a welcoming song, eloquent speeches in English, Urdu, and Kashmiri languages, captivating dances fusing Punjabi and Kashmiri cultures, a group dance, and engaging skits highlighting the significance of grandparents and advocating for the girl child.
The program also featured a soul-stirring qawali and a lighthearted segment of funny news, showcasing the students' versatile talents. Grandparents actively participated in various activities, such as chit games, musical chairs, and voluntary performances, fostering an atmosphere of shared joy.
The grand celebration culminated with Ms. Shazia expressing gratitude in a heartfelt vote of thanks, marking the end of a memorable Grandparents' Day at Doon School Srinagar's Wilmot Wing.
