Doon School Srinagar (LPD Wing) celebrated its much-awaited Annual Sports Day 2025 on Wednesday, 29th October, with great enthusiasm and spirit of sportsmanship. The event was graced by an esteemed panel of guests, including Mr. Urfan Dhar (DySP) , Ms. Azeeta Qureshi (Under Secretary to the Governor), Dr. Mehnaz Rehman (Principal, Birla Open Minds Pampore) and Mr Mehraj Wani (JKAS). The event also witnessed the presence of the Chairman of Doon School Srinagar, members of the Sports Department, parents, and distinguished members of the media fraternity.
The celebration began with a warm Welcome Address by the Principal of Doon School Srinagar, Mr. Kamili, who extended heartfelt greetings to the dignitaries, parents, and students, highlighting the significance of sports in holistic education. In his inspiring words, he said,
“Let us remember that each child before us is a promise, a promise of a brighter tomorrow. Let’s nurture that promise with love, laughter, and limitless belief.”
His address set a reflective and motivational tone for the day.
This was followed by the Welcome Speech by the Head Boy and Head Girl, followed by the Lighting of the Torch, symbolizing the spirit of perseverance and excellence. The Releasing of Balloons and Flag Hoisting by the dignitaries along with the chairman (DSS) and the principal marked the official commencement of the event, filling the air with excitement and patriotic fervour.
Students from Nursery, LKG, and UKG showcased their talent, agility, and team spirit through a series of lively and colourful events including March Past, Dumbbell Drill, Balance Walk Race, Dress-Up Race, Spoon Lemon Race, Yoga Demonstration, and Pom Pom Drill. The parents’ events such as Mothers’ Apple Munching and Father-Child Balloon Burst Race added a joyful and participatory touch to the day.
The performances included Welcome Song, African Dance, and the Dreamers Dance which further brought life and rhythm to the field, leaving the audience mesmerized by the confidence and creativity of the little ones.
The event also featured multiple Felicitation Ceremonies, where the winners of various races and activities were honoured with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, as well as special prizes.
In his address, the Chairman Mr. Showkat Hussain Khan ,commended the students and teachers for their dedication and teamwork, emphasizing the importance of sports in building confidence, discipline, and resilience.
The event concluded with an inspiring Vote of Thanks by Ms Shazia Khan, coordinator (Junior wing), Doon School Srinagar, who extended heartfelt gratitude to the Guests of Honour, Chairman, Principal, parents, teachers, students, media, and the sports department for making the event a grand success.
The day stood as a celebration of energy, teamwork, and friendship, truly reflecting the spirit of Fitness, Fun & Friendship that defines Doon School Srinagar’s ethos.
