An Inaugural event was hosted in DIS Srinagar to felicitate Haya Sajad Wani, Grade VII student for writing her debut book ‘Fancy Flight’, on December 28th, 2021.The event began with the anchor establishing the tone.
Mr Mehfooz Aslam, the Principal of Doon International School, welcomed the guests. A Special song about Haya’s commendable work, composed by the Principal of the school was sung together by a choir of students and teachers. As a message of admiration, students had put together an exquisite compilation of video bites which was projected for the audience. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr Nisar, Registrar Kashmir University. Mr Altaf, Mr Hameed and Mr Kamli were the Guests of Honour. In addition to these the Chairman of the school, Mr Showkat Hussain Khan, the Principal, Mr Mehfooz Aslam and the Vice-Principal, Ms Nowsheen Bashir, were on hand to receive the book and cut the ribbons. The author narrated her journey and the process of book writing, emphasizing on the importance of never giving up and improving at every phase of life. She also gave a presentation of her book to the audience. Next the Chairman of the school enlightened the focused listeners from the stage. He spoke about the innovations that are required in the field of education in order for these outstanding students to shine and make us proud. He elaborated on how beneficial it is to demonstrate perseverance, strength and the ability to accept criticism positively. The audience was enthralled by his wonderful metaphorical analogies of crab and hawk. A brief Press Session was conducted wherein the Chairman briefly touched upon the future plans of the school.
The Chief Guest of the function sermonized his message in sculptured words from the stage to carve deep impact upon the august audience. His speech focused on enthusiasm of the students and his incredible strategies to put this enthusiasm into practice. He and other dignitaries congratulated the International Olympiad student champions and Spell Bee contest winners of the school and felicitated them with medals and certificates. The ceremony ended with a vote of gratitude by the anchor. It was an incredible programme that was a huge success on the whole.
