With over 150 participants, this Tuesday i.e., 7th of March, 2023, we had the privilege to put up an online awareness workshop in collaboration with Re- Tech, India on "Awareness Creation in E-waste Management ". The workshop got all thinking about how important it is to create awareness about the management and proper disposal of e-waste. As the world around us is gradually becoming virtual, we rely increasingly on technology and consequently on electric and electronic equipment (EEE). These devices, however, have a finite lifespan and need to be discarded properly at the end of their "useful life span ". The presence of highly toxic substances and heavy metals in such items pose a significant threat to the environment and thus need to be disposed of conscientiously.
The workshop made students aware about the e-waste and how less information of a waste and its mismanagement can affect the people and environment.
The workshop helped the students to know about the need to create a robust e-waste management system in India and how it must act as a divergent from conventional landfills and open burning.
Such awareness workshops are significant as they not only impact the people at the workshop but, we also know that they will pass it to their friends, family and others.
Kids are the future! Taking time to teach them such life skills can tutor them to enjoy the real life responsibilities well.
