Field visits have been shown to be a fantastic approach to instill knowledge. It enables kids to acquire and comprehend concepts on their own, without the need for further explanation. It is a different kind of experience where things could be learnt outside textbooks. Keeping this in mind, Doon School Srinagar organized an educational tour for classes 6th and 7th to Burzahom, Srinagar, on August 2nd, 2022.
Burzahom site is a prehistoric Archaeological Northernmost excavated Neolithic site of India, located in the Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir. Discovered first in 1939 with a few bones and tools revealed the historic significance of the place.
Doon School believes that educational trips support indirect learning which is quite essential for every learner and they assist students in doing their own research, which is preferable to lecturing them on a subject. Students benefit from having this experience since it helps them remember what they’ve learned, for a lot longer. The students toured the place and could be seen jotting down their experiences onto their notebooks. They were cautiously exploring all the corners of the place and their curiosity was reflecting on their faces. The teachers accompanying the students explained the historical significance of the place to the students, along with what tools, etc. were found in that place. The fervent students were shown the megaliths as well, which still stand tall among the beautiful meadows of Burzahom.
