On the occasion of Ozone Day, a
vibrant and creative event took place at the Islamic University of Science
& Technology (IUST) in Awantipora on September 19, 2023. This art
competition drew participants from over nine schools, each eager to showcase
their artistic talents. Notably, Doon School Srinagar played a significant
role, with 23 of their students joining the competition. The majority of these
students hailed from the primary department. The artistic prowess of Doon School
students shone brightly as they secured three impressive wins. Hurmat Zehra, a
student in Grade 5, clinched the first position, receiving a well-deserved
prize of ₹3,500 along with a certificate. Muhammad Wani, a talented
eighth-grader, also secured the first position, being awarded a similar prize.
Kaneez Fatima, a Grade 6 student, proudly took the third position, earning
₹2,000 and a certificate. The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Shakil
Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, who personally honored all the
participating students. This art competition not only celebrated creativity but
also underscored the importance of environmental awareness on Ozone Day.
