To increase students’ participation in extracurricular activities, summer camp is the best programme offered to children aimed at widening their horizons. Doon School Boys from classes 4th to 12th, left for summer camp in the early hours of July 20th, 2022. The campsite, Sonamarg, filled the atmosphere with awe and freshness. The tents were allotted to them and amidst the quietness of the scenery; the boys had their lip-smacking lunch. The next two days were charted out for trekking, again catering differently to various age-groups. The students enthusiastically walked the long treks under the sun and one could see that there was a buzz of anticipation. The students were quite thoughtful of each other’s needs the entire time trekking. To the full joy of young trekkers, the tents and the entire camping ground was illuminated in the slow fall of darkness. A spell of activities was planned for the evening and the night ended with campfire lit in the midst of the tents. The camp area became crowded and interesting. Doon School kids naturally display their artistic and creative abilities, and they wasted little time in showcasing their potential. Teachers agreed that a strong impact of group participation has been demonstrated. The time for enjoyment quickly ran out as the night set in.
23rd July, 2022, marked the day when the boy campers returned to Doon School by 3pm. Their faces could tell a different tale: they seemed to be least exhausted and were filled with great energy and fervor and had the biggest smiles on their faces.
