The Doon School Srinagar recently hosted a two-day
orientation program on February 26th and 27th, 2024, catering to parents of
grade 1 and 2 students within the Wilmot Wing. This initiative aimed to
familiarize parents with the extension of the renowned Cambridge curriculum to
these grades, building upon the school's success in implementing it in the
early years.
Mr. Akash Rao, Head Academic Advisor for South Asia,
Cambridge Curriculum, took center stage, delivering a comprehensive
presentation on the intricacies of this child-centric educational approach. The
sessions commenced each day with a warm introduction to the program,
accompanied by a compelling speech by Ms. Ambreen on the "Importance of
early childhood years in learning."
Ms. Saba Farooqi, Assistant Coordinator of the Wilmot Wing,
added valuable insights through a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the
school's achievements, scholastic and co-scholastic activities, and ongoing
teacher training programs. The Chairman of the school, Mr. Showkat Hussain,
addressed the audience, emphasizing the institution's commitment to
continuously strive for providing the best educational system to society.
The platform then opened for interactive sessions, during
which parents actively participated, posing questions and seeking
clarifications on the curriculum. Mr. Showkat Hussain, the Chairman, personally
addressed these inquiries, ensuring parents left with a thorough understanding
and satisfaction. The sessions concluded with expressions of gratitude extended
by Ms. Shazia Khan, Coordinator of the Wilmot Wing, thanking participants for
their engagement.
Overall, the orientation program not only provided a
valuable opportunity for parents to gain insights into the Cambridge curriculum
but also fostered a collaborative environment between the school and parents,
reinforcing the commitment to quality education at Doon School Srinagar.
