DOON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL,SRINAGAR FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT EVENT-2020. Doon International Football Tournament-2020 mega event was organised for the very first time by the Sports Department of Doon International School Srinagar. On 02/11/20 in the sprawling and lush green campus of the school with much fervor, enthusiasm and passion and the total number of teams that participated in this Football tournament was 20. Moreover, the total number of matches played was 19 (including the finals). The teams that secured their place in the Semi-Finals included Qamarwari FC v/s Real Baghat and it was Real Baghat that won the first Semi-finals by the score of (4-2). Similarly, the second round of semi-finals was played between DIS Club v/s Downtown Heroes and the winners for the same were Downtown Heroes (Downtownw on by 5-4). The teams that secured their place in Finals were Downtown Heroes v/s Real Baghat. The fina lfootball match was played on03/12/20 in Doon International School Srinagar and both the rival teams viz; Downtown Heroes v/s Real Baghat showed as pectacular high-level performance and it was the Downtown FC team that emerged as the tournament winners beating Real Baghat FC 3 - 0 during a 45 minutes match (first half), 10 minutes break then again 45 minutes match (second half). The final football event concluded at 4:30pm. At the prize giving ceremony, in addition to the trophy being given to the winning Captain, the winning team received a cash prize of Rs.10,000 from Mr.Showkat Hussain Khan (Chairman of Doon International School Srinagar). Mr.Khan felicitated the captain of the runner up team with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs.5000. The chairman DIS, Mr. Showkat Hussain Khan congratulated both the teams for giving a tough fight and making it upto the finals and also encouraged todo their best in the future endeavours too. The Chief Guest for the Football tournament was Dr.Nisar Ahmed Mir (Registrar University of Kashmir) and the Guest of Honour included Professor B.A.Shah (General Secretary- JK Football Association), Mr. Abdul Majeed Kakroo (Former Indian Football Captain), Mr. Mohammad Sameer Kana (National Football player), Mr. Fayaz Ahmad Halwai (Former National Player), Mr. Bilal Ahmad Punjabi (Development Officer-FIFA), Mr. Abdul Hameed (Chairman of Shadab College of Education), Mr. Altaf Bazaz (Chairman of Kashmir Law College of Education), Mr. Tariq Ahmad (Chairman Kashmir Harvard School), Mr. Iqbal Beigh (Chairman of Sarfaraz college of Education New Convent School) and Mr. Showkat Ahmad Choudhary (President of private school association and chairman of IDPS).
