CBSE organised a Two-day workshop based on Inclusive Education at Doon International School from 23 to 24 June 2023. Mr Sandeep Jain (Joint Secretary Training Unit CBSE) and Ms Rama Raghavan (Freelancer) conducted this training session. There were more than 60 teachers of DIS who took active part in the workshop, group discussions were held and also gave presentations regarding the same.
The main objectives of the workshop were:
1. To focus on identifying and interventions in implementing inclusion of children with special needs in the classroom with the other children.
2.The workshop also aimed to provide a platform form to the teachers to express their viewpoints and best practices to implement them in school.
3.Understanding various disabilities along with their screening and identification e.g., Learning disabilities. Autism spectrum Disorder Physical Disabilities Visual impairment, Caring impairment and Sensory disabilities
4. Preparing lesson plans and IEPs for children with disability.
5. To provide a platform for teachers to share their views and best practices to be implemented in the classroom for discussing innovative ways of using different technology to keep teachers building inclusive schools.
Ms Nowsheen Bashir (Vice Principal DIS) concluded the session with the Vote of Thanks and stated that…
"The session proved to be incredibly very informative. Teachers learned the better way of responding to the needs of all children specially children who have learning problems and behaviour issues.
She also stated," Respect and understanding grow when children with diverse abilities play, learn and socialize together. It helps in developing the inclusive society when education is more inclusive"
